A doctor for Gozo, without the ferry.

A Malta-registered GP by video within minutes, from Victoria, Marsalforn, Xlendi or a farmhouse.

€25 a video consultation — one fixed rate, any hour

8am to midnight Malta-registered Paceville, St Julian's

From Gozo, the clinic in Paceville is a ferry and a drive away. A video consultation is not. Dr Kevin Navarro Gera is on your phone within minutes from 8am to midnight, and what he prescribes is dispensed by pharmacies in Gozo as in Malta.

Farmhouses, dive trips and weekends away

Gozo fills at weekends and in summer with people who are a long way from their own doctor. A consultation works from a farmhouse on mobile data as well as from a hotel, and drops to voice if the signal will not carry video.

What Gozo patients should know

This is a video service only: there is no clinic in Gozo. If you need to be examined, the doctor tells you where to go. In an emergency in Gozo, call 112 or go to Gozo General Hospital in Victoria.

The €25 is paid at the counter of Potter's Pharmacy in Paceville: nothing is taken during the call. A prescription opens on your phone once the fee has been paid there, and any licensed pharmacy can then dispense it.

How a consultation works

  1. Open the app or the website and give your name and email once. There is no password to remember.
  2. Say in a line or two what is wrong. A photo often helps — a rash, a swelling, a test result.
  3. Call. Dr Kevin Navarro Gera answers within minutes when he is free; otherwise you wait in line and your phone rings at your turn.
  4. Anything he writes up afterwards reaches you in the app and by email, usually within minutes.
  5. The €25 is settled at Potter's Pharmacy when you collect. Nothing is taken from a card during the call.

What a consultation can cover

The same things a GP sees in a morning: a chest or urine infection, a rash, a migraine, food poisoning, an ear that will not clear, a repeat of something you already take.

Where the assessment supports it, the doctor writes a prescription, and any licensed Maltese pharmacy dispenses it. Where a consultation shows that someone is unfit for work or for an activity, he puts that in writing too. Both are clinical judgements reached during the consultation.

A screen is not enough for everything. A wound that needs stitching, a suspected fracture, chest pain, anything needing hands or equipment — the doctor says so during the call and sends you where you need to go.

Common questions

Do Gozo pharmacies accept the prescription?

Yes. It is written by a doctor registered with the Malta Medical Council, and any licensed pharmacy in Malta or Gozo dispenses it once the fee has been paid at Potter's Pharmacy in Paceville.

Can I have a diving medical from Gozo?

Some histories can be assessed by video and others need an examination in person. The doctor tells you which yours is.

If this is an emergency, call 112 or go to Mater Dei Emergency. A video consultation is for things that can safely wait for a doctor to look at them on screen.
